un cafe, un croque monsieur, et un gateau

After being blissfully restored to the internet, Ani and I headed off toward Cafe de la Presse in the Kannai locale, after much waiting to go and try out their eats. We walked down the "boy way" to Mitsuzawakami-cho and then took a train to Yokohama Eki. We bid Judy farewell and hit the Minato Mirai line over to Nihonbashi to basically sit right underneath the Cafe.

It's the mini-restaurant of the museum there, and it was eerily quiet and mostly unpopulated. It was a nice change from all the restaurants that we've been to, and it was very nice to be able to talk and hear each other without killing ourselves. It was a very French cafe, with the menu en francais (French speaking readers, forgive the lack of accents on words) and in katakana. Ani and I ordered coffees, for which I had a "Cafe des Juges" which was a latte with a bit of orange liqueur. She had a "Cafe Crema" which she loved and reminded her of home. Mine was a bit on the bitter end, but still needed no sugar as it was a delightfully tasty coffee to begin our little meal. We ordered a pair of Croque Monsieur to eat, along with some Pomme Frites. The croque was delicious and buttery, though not like the ones from Fleur de Cocoa. It was still nice and filled me up with some well-cooked fries (the ones under Cafeteria 1 suck), and we had a bit of mayo and ketchup to go with them. We followed up with dessert; Ani had a creme brulee (with real vanilla bourbon), which she continually touted its creaminess and the delicate sugar layer over it. I had a small chocolate cake, with ginger ganache between the cake layers and it was simple but complex in flavor. As we checked out, I bought a six-set of macarons (the main reason I wanted to come to this restaurant).

Since I haven't updated in a while (mostly life has been semi-ordinary), here are a bunch of food pictures that have been accumulating:
