dim sum (it's not freaking yum cha) and the skyline

After Languages of Japan (which by the way, I'm going to keep, so no free Mondays), Ani, Judy, and I went off toward Kannai Eki to try and find Cafe de la Presse. After wandering in the wrong direction, getting semi-lost, and finding our way by basically negotiating the path toward World Porters, we finally found our way to the building. It was closed, because being the silly fool I am, forgot to check the opening days for the Cafe. However, not all was lost, as we headed over to Chinatown to try and actually have some Chinese food.

We agreed on tabe-hodai, which means all you can eat, and went upstairs of Shoufukumon (which was substantially easier to find than Cafe de la Presse). We were seated in a somewhat empty room as it was still quite early in the evening and were handed a menu with about 40 or so plates and we ordered. Overall, it was sort of my first really filling (and stuffed feeling) meal since I've arrived. Coincidentally, it was also a really home-esque feeling meal, because it was so familiar. Enjoy the pictures :D

Afterward, we paid our way and I picked up some lovely Jasmine Pearl tea for drinking. It's a favorite of mine (thanks Mom!), so I was pretty glad to pick some up for a decent price (comparative to how crazy it can get in the U.S.). As it was still early, we decided to hit up the Cosmo 21 Clock, which is the insanely huge ferris wheel at the edge of Minato Mirai. Walking past a Starbucks, Judy wanted something yummy (and home-reminder-esque) to drink, so we stopped in. Looking at their drinks, they had a bizarre Coffee Jelly Frapp, so I got a small for a dirt cheap price (for Frapps, anyway).

They have an awesome Yokohama Starbucks thermos, but I didn't get one yet :( It can wait, but let me know if this is what you want~ Anyhow, after leaving Starbucks, we made our way to the World Porters area for the ferris wheel. At the base of the ferris wheel are a bunch of kid's rides and figures, so naturally, we took some fun pictures.

... but we eventually got onto the monstrosity and enjoyed the fifteen or so minute ride up and over Yokohama's skyline.
